How to wear a suit jacket?
Suit jackets have their own special place in the men's wardrobe. Similar to the shirts - they add elegance and chic to the casual stylings. They are also considered by many as extremely comfortable to wear. Nowadays, suit jackets are not reserved for special events and occasions. However, understanding the casual suit jacket means knowing how to create trendy stylings, choose an appropriate size and design.
It seems to be easy. Nothing could be more misleading. The essential features are of course the cut and design. Even the most expensive and gorgeous suit jacket looks awful if it's too large or creases on the back. Luckily, you can avoid that. It's enough to measure yourself properly, think a while about the cut, try on at least few different models and see which one fits you best.
The most important thing during measurement are arms and back length. The perfect jacket needs to look like the second skin. It can't crease or fold. The same case with widening lapels. The appropriate length? It should reach the thumb and have sleeves that are 1-2 cm shorter than the cuffs.
It's worthwhile to know that suit jackets were designed with having in mind two purposes. Firstly, they build up the men's silhouette and secondly, hide the imperfections. That's why choosing the appropriate cut is so important. The double-breasted suit jackets are best for slim gentlemen. The trendy slim-fit ones that perfectly underline and highlight the silhouette are another decent offer. Pay attention to lapels! The narrow ones are rather designed for slim and tall men, while the wide ones are more universal.
Blazers and casual jackets are less formal than suit jackets but there is still need for the proper choice of the fabric and colour. During spring and summer, the best are elegant linen or cotton jackets in soft and bright colours. What about autumn and winter? Place a bet on a thicker jacket which is fabricated from tweed, corduroy or wool. Colours? The colours of the Earth blended up with patterns like checked, herringbone or pin-striped. The unique casual jackets are characterised by fancy and original details. The formal character of a jacket is nicely broken by contrasting details on the pockets or collar and elbow patches.
In the classic match-ups, a suit jacket is usually fitted to shirts and more elegant beige or navy blue chino trousers. The regular cut of jeans give way more freedom and ease while completing the outfit. You are fed up with boring and dull colours, aren't you? Introduce colours to your styling. You can juice up your outfit by a colourful blazer, trousers, a jumper, a shirt or at least a handkerchief.
In stylings with a sweatshirt, the details also matter. Sweatshirts and hoodies look amazing with a trendy and streetwear colourful sneakers. Colourful accessories like a cap or a backpack provide your outfit with laid-back style. Of course, on colder days a baseball cap can be replaced by a thick and woollen hat.
While choosing a hoodie or a sweatshirt for yourself, it's worth to think not only about thr colour or design. It will be only comfortable to wear if you pay attention to fabrics. The best ones are made entirely from cotton.
