How to wear a striped shirt?
A more expressive alternative to a plain shirt is surely a checked one – depending on the design it has a tiny, a large, a Vichy or a multicoloured pattern. However, there is still one more possibility to choose. A striped shirt that uniquely blends up advantages of checked and plain shirts. Additionally, it's not yet much popular and thanks to that you can easily create an original and expressive look for various events.
There is a need to clarify something – a myth that a pin-striped pattern doesn't fit into everyday stylings. Nothing could be more wrong. Feel free to match them in a fancy way with other patterns i.e. with a check – it isn't hard. It's enough to know a few basic rules and you will be able to create a decent and stylish outfit with a pin-striped shirt playing the head role.
As it was mentioned, such a shirt is not so popular yet, but there are at least a few different types of it. The most common has the Bengal stripe where white and colourful stripes have the same size. Depending on individual preferences you can choose between a wide and a narrow Bengal stripe. The second one looks like a plain pattern from a distance but, at the same time fits amazingly into a business styling.
Less formal is the so-called candy stripe where colourful stripes are narrower than white ones. Another one is the pencil stripe with narrow and colourful stipes on the contrasting background. Moreover, there is the least common - a multicoloured stripe that looks like a tyre track left on the road. That's why it's called the truck stripe.
The Bengal stripe is the most popular kind of a stripe in men's fashion. It is usually connected with navy blue, sky blue or red colour. It's a perfect match with a blazer or a suit – not only with a plain one. A pin-striped shirt looks amazing matched with a checked, a herringbone or a striped suit. However, you need to remember about one rule.
A pin-striped pattern will do amazingly in a pair with a suit jacket. Another decent offer – a striped shirt with a contrasting collar and cuffs. You will surely like it thanks to its expressivity and a unique look. It's the cut that visually slenders a silhouette but at the same time does not break the body proportions of a thin man.
It's worth to remember that thanks to its not-so-formal style you can wear it every day. Such a shirt fits amazing to casual stylings, both summer and informal ones. You can match it without fear with jeans, colourful trousers or even shorts. A decent look always means paying attention to the details. A striped shirt with a casual button-down collar, a pocket and a curved trim is perfect for casual use. If you want to get a shirt for warm and sunny days, place a bet on a short-sleeved model. Expressive, but way more original than a summertime checked shirt.
