How to wear a hoodie?
The most important and unquestionable advantage of hoodies is comfort. Thanks to this, men's sweatshirts are more popular than blazers, warm jumpers and even long sleeve cotton shirts. The comfort of wearing is only one reason making them worth buying. There're a lot more. Most of the versions despite having an adjustable hood are also equipped with handy pockets. Equally popular are zipped sweatshirts, which work perfectly all year long and can be an element of layer stylings. A good men's sweatshirt is a fine proposition to wear on a workout, as the zipped one can easily replace a jumper or a jacket on chilly days.
It's good to know that men's hoodies have become the designers' favourite clothes. It's no longer a cut that can only be used in sporty and streetwear stylings. Feel free to match it with a blazer or an elegant shirt. The claim that only young people can wear a hoodie should be shelved alongside fairy tales. The truth is opposite, a properly chosen hoodie adds youthful slack even to adult gentlemen. Now a question arises: how to wear it to expose all its advantages in a styling?
The first thing is to choose the proper colour. Expressive hoodies in intensive colours and large overprints fit best to people with dark hair and complexion. More subtle colours and minimalistic cuts are really universal and can be a base in creating different stylings.
It's also worth to focus on the cut because a properly chosen one can improve the silhouette proportions. The contrasting top visually enhances the shoulders, whereas the raglan sleeves have an opposite outcome. The vertical stripes on the sides or contrasting sleeves provide a slimming effect. If you want to hide some imperfections of the silhouette, it's recommended to pick sweatshirts with an asymmetric fastening, zippers or with a fancy collar – it does the trick.
What do we match a hoodie with is very relevant. The classic sweatshirt is an element of a sporty and street set, such as the one consisting of comfy joggers, baggy trousers and trainers. Sometimes it's worth to experiment a bit, e.g. introduce the sweatshirt to casual, everyday stylings – perfect for holidays, a trip, a night out or a barbeque.
A hoodie really enjoys the company of jeans, but goes well also with a T-shirt and boots. In summer, feel free to replace your jeans with denim shorts, whereas the sneakers with comfortable slip-ons or plimsolls with white outsole.
Top fashion designers encourage to combine hoodies with elegant cuts. The sweatshirt looks great with colourful chinos in a set with a shirt, baggy trousers or with a blazer and an elegant coat. Supposing that the mix of a short sleeve shirt with a blazer isn't a good idea, the combination with a sweatshirt gives a huge effect and results in a unique look.
A styling consisting of a sweatshirt should be also decorated with accessories. They usually look good with trendy urban shoes or high top trainers. Don't hesitate and look for colourful gadgets, a cap and a backpack. If it's cold, go for a thick wollen knit cap.
While choosing a sweatshirt for yourself, it's worth to consider not only the colour and cut. To use it properly, it's important to remember about the fabrics. The best are the ones made from high-quality cotton.
