Caps are mainly associated with rappers and celebrities who try to hide, without success, from intrusive paparazzi. It's also one of the hottest fashion trends of the last months. First caps were released in the nineteenth century. Their invention was dictated by the need. The aims of the caps were to protect sportsmen from rain, wind and blinding sun. However, they were less prepared and polished than the modern designs. Peaks of the first caps were usually made of cardboard and the other parts were to protect the head, they had no details and were available in just a few basic colours. It begun to change when baseball players from NYC clubs started wearing them during matches. Caps in baseball teams' colours with tags and prints became a standard design. Mass production of caps started not so long ago, in the 50's of the last century.
Years have passed and the designs of the caps haven't changed. A completely new thing was the introduction of a division into two types of caps: a snapback and a full cap. The first one has got a profiled back and its width is adjustable to make it fit better to the head's shape. The new fabrics were introduced - light and breathable, which work great even during the hottest days of the year. Modern caps successfully protect from rain, wind and blinding sunlight. They are not only functional but also have stopped to be associated only with baseball pitch use.
Caps became an iconic element of urban style. It's an expressive accessory, which fits nicely in different stylings. Trendsetters wear caps even with a suit. A bit less risky but still extremely impressive is matching them with casual and streetwear stylings, as well as with sporty clothing and shoes.
Caps look also stunning with jeans, baggies, sweatpants and shorts. They add extra coolness to a simple T-shirt and a tanktop. A baseball cap itself is a synonym of urban coolness. However, it's important how to wear it. The peak of the cap at the front looks classical. But, it's enough to lift the peak up, turn it up or wear sunglasses and even a straight design can look way more different.
It's worth to remember about one thing. Caps look good if you care about them. Washing in a washing machine isn't a good idea. To keep caps' shaped and in amazing colours, it's recommended to wash them with the use of a sponge or a damp rag from the inside. Washing powder and strong detergents should be replaced by regular soap.
