Grunge style? Create an amazing look!
Being up-to-date with current fashion trends is not that easy as it seems. Instead of completing your wardrobe with next fashion hits, you can take a different path. It concerns also universal clothes, which style has belonged to the fashion canons. One of them is grunge – the rock&roll and nonchalant style, perfect for music events and festivals.
Icons. Who is grunge for?
The grunge style had its peak in the 1980s and 1990s. Then the world was crazy about Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam and Nirvana – the unquestionable grunge icon was Kurt Cobain. After the years, rebels, brave young men and non-conformists still love grunge and don't care about adopting to current trends.
Grunge – element of style
Like each style, grunge has its own characteristic elements. The most typical are colourful flannel checked shirts. You can wear them on different ways. Another example is a leather jacket and plimsolls with a higher upper, which can be replaced by heavy leather combat boots on colder periods of the year. A base for grunge stylings are always comfy ragged men's jeans in a variety of colours, from sky blue to black.
However, clothes are not all. The way of wearing them is also significant. True grunge is all about being nonchalant, careless and putting on layers.
T-shirt, flannel shirt, jeans – always good
The grunge look should make a sophisticated impression. The best stylings are the well-thought ones. As the top, you can go with a T-shirt or a longsleeve in subtle colours, with or without a print. Feel free to match different necklines. Try a classic crew one or a very trendy V-neck one. It's hard to imagine a grunge look without a shirt. It should be light, checked and made from soft flannel. Put it on a T-shirt and leave unbuttoned. You can also tie it around the waist.
The best choice in grunge style, in terms of men's trousers, are obviously jeans. A great set can be created with the use of well-fitted models with stonewashing, shading and with jagged knees. It's worth looking at trendy stitchings and decorative zippers. In case of colours, the sky blue is as good as the shades of blue, navy blue or deep washed black and grey. The grunge look can be even improved. Don't put denim away. All you have to do is matching a pair of men's jeans with very comfortable denim joggers.
Not only leather jackets – perfect grunge outerwear
The grunge look is associated, most of all, with black leather biker jackets. A model with underlined shoulders, asymmetric fastening and decorative zippers will surely boost up your every look. However, the possibilities of grunge don't end up on biker jackets.
Especially on cold days, you can create a great rock&roll outfit with a parka jacket. Just match it up with a T-shirt, a thicker jumper, a flannel shirt, a jagged pair of jeans and heavy boots.
A stylish set with a denim jacket with sew-on badges can also look very original. In such sets place a bet on black and mix denim clothes with the shades of blue and navy blue. Try out the black total look with a warm bomber jacket.
The modern grunge-inspired stylings also include a lightweight jacket – the bomber type. Here, don't forget about focusing on layers. A good option will be mixing the bomber jacket with a longline shirt or a large hoodie.
Grunge and accessories
All stylings have something in common, the devil is in the details, or... rather in accessories. Woolen caps have a rock&roll soul for sure. Choose them for winter. Another great proposition is a vintage backpack in military green, with badges of your favourite bands. An original and trendy detail is men's leather jewellery made from thong.
Among footwear, it's surely worth betting not only on comfy plimsolls. Try out sneakers, heavy combat boots, winter boots and eye-catching cowboy boots.
Grunge details can be found while choosing the desired clothes. Rock&roll tags, overprints on T-shirts and sweatshirts can juice up the look. Don't forget about decorative zippers, checked inserts, stitchings, cuttings, hobnails or jagged sew-on badges.
