Casual Friday – an easy-going look after hours
The ongoing work is, most of all, about your professional duties. But not to the full extend. Nowadays, employers require from their employees to be not only well-qualified, but also to look professional. You have to obey the dress code or wear a dedicated uniform in many professions. There's a rule worth mentioning – the higher position in the company, the more formal image is required. However, there is an exception. Strictly speaking, casual Friday.
Casual Fridays have been popularized by Americans. To save some energy at the end of the week, they resigned from ties and started to dress up more casually. However, an easy-going atmosphere can't allow sloppiness, so the Friday outfit should also be well-thought-out.
Odd jacket and trousers instead of a suit
If your ordinary outfit to work is a suit, you may replace it with an odd jacket and trousers on Friday. Choose men's chino trousers and a comfortable blazer in a different colour. You can also go with a classic navy blue or grey suit jacket, but there's a better proposition – a less formal brown one. In case of trousers, we suggest choosing light colours. The reliable options are always: grey, navy blue and beige. In spring and summer, pick pastels, which give a fresh and hoiday tune.
Such sets nicely fit into the smart-casual style, but on Fridays, think about replacing your stylish chinos with even less formal trousers. Jeans will do the work perfectly, provided that the pair is straight, has a classic navy blue or black colour and no unnecesary decorations, stonewashing or visible shadings. Among suit jackets, feel free to choose a bicolour model with contrasting lapels or sleeves. Another good idea is to go with casual models with elbow patches or lighter ones without a lining.
Perfect shirts and T-shirts on casual Friday
Although you can resign from a suit and a tie, it's worth to decide to put on a long sleeve shirt. Feel free to replace elegant white or sky blue ones with more casual models with a collar and a noticeable fastening in a nice colour. Original patterns are also welcome – stripes and pinstripes or a less formal check.
Casual men's shirts with long sleeves look really good under a blazer, but you can wear them just with trousers. In such cases, you would benefit from focusing on details. In order to make the styling nonchalant, it's best to loosen the collar a little bit and roll up the sleeves when it's hot.
The possibilities of casual Friday don't end up on shirts. In stylings with jeans and a blazer, try to put on a T-shirt. It may be a stylish sporty polo shirt in a neutral colour or a men's basic T-shirt with an original overprint.
On colder days, remember about jumpers. A bull's eye will be warm men's cardigans, as well as woolen men's vests with a V-neckline that look great together with a shirt. A fantastic alternative for shirts and jumpers is a warm men's tutleneck. Match it with a sporty or tweed blazer and slender the silhouette.
The best accessories on a casual Friday
While creating the casual Friday styling, the accessories may turn out problematic. We obviously say 'no' to sandals, but we approve light men's moccasins or sailor shoes. Moreover, monochromatic sneakers and trainers are really interesting options. Classic brown low shoes also have a big potential or even less formal models with an open-work pattern.
If you decide on jeans and chinos, you have to add a proper belt, it should be a smaller one to chinos and a more massive one to jeans. Despite the fact that casual Friday outfits don't have ties, you still can use a breast pocket with a blazer. Another idea worth considering is replacing a classic leather briefcase with a faux leather or denim backpack.
'Casual Friday' is a great beginning of the weekend and a perfect occassion to show your true face and style. Introduce your favourite colours and cuts to loose outfits.
